Angry for being deceived, Trump slammed Abu Mazen for lying about incitement

Though last week's meeting between the American president and the PA chairman ended with smiles for the cameras, it would appear that some drama occurred behind the scenes; according to an American source, US President Donald Trump slammed Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas for lying about his direct involvement in incitement.

A US source who apparently had access to the meeting that took place between US President Donald Trump and Mahmoud Abbas in Bethlehem last Tuesday said that Trump had shouted at the PA chairman, accusing him of lying.

"You deceived me in Washington," Trump reportedly screamed at Abbas. "You talked to me about peace, but the Israelis showed me that you personally have taken part in incitement." The meeting apparently continued after that in a somewhat tense atmosphere. Palestinian officials, on the other hand, said that they received reports of a good and purposeful meeting.

In his subsequent speech alongside Abbas at the presidential compound in Bethlehem, Trump appeared to criticize the PA's support for terrorists. This, in retrospect, may have given some indication of what transpired between the two.

"Peace can never take root in an environment where violence is tolerated, funded and even rewarded,” the president said in his speech. "We must be resolute in condemning such acts in a single unified voice."
