Greenblatt meets with families of Israelis being held captive by HamasWashington’s special representative to the Middle East, Jason Greenblatt, met with the parents of two fallen soldiers whose remains are being held by Hamas in Gaza. On Twitter, Greenblatt slammed the Palestinian terrorist group for holding the bodies.
US President Donald Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, Jason Greenblatt, met with the families of fallen IDF soldiers Hadar Goldin and Oron Shaul, whose bodies Hamas has been holding captive since Operation Protective Edge.
In a tweet, Greenblatt uploaded a picture of himself with the parents of the soldiers and condemned Hamas for holding the remains, calling the terrorist group’s actions “shameful” and “despicable.” He added: “All Israelis must be returned & I pray for their families.”
The senior US official also met with the families of Avera Mengistu and Hisham al-Sayed, two mentally unstable Israeli citizens who are also being held captive by Hamas in Gaza. Mengistu has been missing since September 2014. Al-Sayed disappeared in April 2015. “How reprehensible of Hamas to cause such horrible suffering,” Greenblatt wrote in a tweet that featured a picture of himself with the two families.
My meetings included a brother of Avera Mangistu and a brother of Hisham Al-Sayeed. Their heartfelt plea: Send our brothers home! pic.twitter.com/yJJqGF5OAo— Jason D. Greenblatt (@jdgreenblatt45) January 25, 2018
