Trump’s special envoy for international negotiations meets with heads of Israeli settlementsFor the first time since he was appointed, U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy for international negotiations met with the heads of the Israeli settlements in the West Bank. This meeting took place just a few hours before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s additional meeting with the U.S. special envoy.
Jason Greenblatt, U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy for international negotiations, met this morning (Thursday) with the heads of Israeli settlements for the first time. The meeting took place in Jerusalem. Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan and Efrat Regional Council head Oded Revivi attended the meeting.
“This discussion was certainly an important step and it was the beginning of the relationship,” said Dagan. “We have a lot of respect for Trump and the new government and we are happy that there is a sympathetic and open-minded government that will establish a dialogue.” Dagan added that the Israeli residents of the West Bank are demanding that the Israeli government significantly change its policies “that harm the basic human rights of half a million residents in Judea and Samaria.”

Earlier today, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced during a government meeting that he will meet once again with Greenblatt this afternoon. “We are in the process of a dialogue with the White House and our intention is to reach an accepted policy of construction in the settlements,” Netanyahu said.
“To the Amona residents, I’ll say it again: ‘I made a commitment to establish a new community and I will make good on it,’” Netanyahu said.
