Cyprus sends Israelis back for intending to visit Turkish part
Report: Mueller looking into Kushner's contacts with Israeli officialsSpecial council Robert Mueller's team is looking into Jared Kushner's talks with Israeli officials back in December, ahead of a UN Security Council anti-settlement vote which the Obama administration had chosen not to veto.
Robert Mueller, the special council appointed to investigate the Russian meddling in the 2016 US presidential election, is looking into conversations held between Jared Kushner, US President Donald Trump's advisor and son-in-law, and Israeli officials, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.
Last December, during the presidential transition period, then-US President Barack Obama chose not to veto a UN Security Council resolution against the Israeli settlement, thus effectively allowing it to pass. Ahead of the vote, Israeli officials reportedly contacted several Trump officials, including Kushner and former Trump strategist Steve Bannon, in order to get Trump to help prevent the vote or the Obama administration's decision.
Mueller's team is reportedly also investigating Kushner's role in the firing of former FBI Director James Comey.
In June, Channel 2 News reported that Israel and the Trump administration are seeking a way to cancel UN Resolution 2334, which condemns the settlements and demands to halt construction in them.
