Thailand: Israeli murder suspect used to be police informant

Shimon Biton is the suspect who was arrested today for the murder of retired policeman Eli Cohen in Thailand. Biton used to be a police informant for the Israel Police special investigations unit Lahav 433 and assisted in the arrest of suspects in a recent investigation. Biton has a rich criminal record and has been linked to more cases of dismemberment.

Shimon Biton is the suspect who was arrested earlier today (Saturday) for the murder of 62-year-old retired policeman Eli Cohen. As JOL reported earlier today, Cohen was discovered buried under a home in Bangkok.

Biton was used a police informant for Lahav 433, also known as the Israeli FBI, for ten months and assisted in the arrest of 15-20 suspects. It is suspected that Biton murdered Cohen because of a romantic affair between Cohen and the suspect's girlfriend.

Biton has a rich criminal record as in the past he was suspected of being involved in more dismemberment investigations. Biton stopped working with the Israel Police about a year and a half ago.
