Report: Israeli fighter jets fly over Iran undetectedTwo advanced Israeli fighter jets flew over Iran without being detected, a Kuwaiti newspaper claimed on Thursday. The aircraft are part of Israel’s new fleet of F-35 stealth fighter jets.
Two Israeli fighter jets entered Iranian airspace in the past month, according to various reports citing the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida. The Iranian defense systems failed to detect the aircraft belonging to Israel’s new fleet of F-35 stealth fighter jets.
Al-Jarida reportedly cited sources who claimed that the Israeli jets flew over Syria and Iraq to reach Iran. When over Iran, the jets locked onto targets in major cities such as Isfahan and Shiraz.
In December, the Israeli Air Force declared that its new fleet of F-35 stealth fighter jets is field-ready, becoming the second air force in the world to operate the advanced aircraft. The announcement came after nearly a year during which the new fighter jets were tested at an IAF base in the Negev.
The Israeli Defense Ministry purchased a total of 50 F-35 fighter jets in three separate contracts. By 2021, the IAF will have received the 33 aircraft that were purchased in the first two deals. The 17 fighter jets from the third deal will arrive in Israel by December 2024.
