The Technion – Israel Institute of Technology opened a campus in China earlier this week, becoming the first Israeli university to open its academic doors in the Far East country. In 2013, the top Israeli university signed a partnership agreement with China’s Shantou University, which laid the foundation for the Guangdong Technion Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT).
The Technion’s China campus is the first that the Haifa-based school has opened outside of Israel. The campus offers programs for undergraduate and graduate students in the fields of engineering and science. The first programs that GTIIT will offer are in the fields of chemical engineering, material engineering and biotechnology and food engineering.
