Netanyahu, Trump discussed upcoming trip over the phone

Amid the chaos in Washington after U.S President Donald Trump’s apparent intelligence leak, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with the American leader about his upcoming trip to Israel. The conversation lasted 20 minutes and according to the Prime Minister’s Office, the two did not discuss other topics.

U.S President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke on Tuesday afternoon regarding the former’s upcoming trip to Israel, according to Haaretz. Neither the White House nor the Prime Minister’s Office publicized that the conversation took place. However, the Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that it took place when asked about it.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the conversation lasted about 20 minutes and the two did not discuss other topics besides the trip.

Last night, the Washington Post reported that the confidential information that Trump shared with Russian officials came from Israel and that Israel asked that the information not be shared with other countries. In addition, Israel was not made aware that the information was disclosed to officials from other countries. ABC News reported that by sharing the information, Trump has endangered the life of an Israeli spy who infiltrated ISIS.
