Yesterday evening (Friday), the US government warned Israel against what it calls “unrestrained” settlement construction. AFP reported that a senior-level White House official stated that US President Donald Trump has expressed concern regarding the settlements both publicly and in private conversations.

“While the existence of settlements is not in itself an impediment to peace, further unrestrained settlement activity does not help advance peace,” the White House official emphasized, despite the fact that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu updated Security Cabinet members about the decision not to allow construction outside existing settlement territory.
