UN Secretary-General António Guterres lands in Israel

Yesterday, for the first time since entering office, UN Secretary-General António Guterres landed in Israel. During the visit, he will focus on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.

Yesterday (Sunday), UN Secretary-General António Guterres landed in Israel for his first visit in the Middle East since entering office. During the visit, Guterres will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Reuven Rivlin.

Guterres will focus on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza as well as peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians. “Welcome to Israel,” Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon told Guterres. “We look forward to showing you our country, an island of stability and prosperity in a tumultuous region.”

Today, the Secretary-General will visit Yad Vashem with Netanyahu and Rivlin. Later, he will participate in a special event for Israeli innovation at the Israel Museum.
