Yesterday (Monday), US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman hosted 6 heads of Israeli settlements for US Independence Day celebrations at his home. This is the first time that senior-level US officials invited settlement leaders to public events such as this. Friedman is known to have good ties with the Chairman of Shomron Regional Council Yossi Dagan, who was also present at the celebration.

During the meeting, Dagan presented the Ambassador and his wife candlesticks from the stones of the Itamar settlement in Shomron. At the end of the event, the embassy website uploaded a picture of Friedman and his wife with Dagan and the candlesticks. This is special, as in the past no official photographs of senior-level US officials were uploaded with settlement-related people.
