Ahead of an upcoming visit to Israel by US President Donald Trump, the White House has said that the president intends to "express his desire for dignity and self-determination for the Palestinians" during his scheduled meeting with Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas.

"With President Rivlin and Prime Minister Netanyahu, (Trump) will reaffirm America's unshakable bond to the Jewish state," US National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster told reporters Friday during the daily press briefing.

When asked if there was a plan to promote a trilateral meeting of Trump, Netanyahu and Abbas, McMaster said, "It will be up to the president and those leaders."
