Will Trump really move US Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem?

On his path to the White House, Donald Trump promised that he would move the US Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. After his big victory, will he keep his promise? Senior level Israeli officials have expressed hope that Trump will change US foreign policy, yet another senior level Israeli minister claims that he does not have high hopes for it to change.

Over the past few months, Jerusalem has intensely followed President-elect Donald Trump’s statements from his campaign. Trump promised that he would move the US Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to the country’s capital city of Jerusalem. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has refrained from commenting on the matter, but senior level Israeli officials including Jerusalem Affairs Minister Ze’ev Elkin are skeptical that Trump will keep his promise.

“Every presidential candidate, except for Hillary Clinton, has promised that they would move the US Embassy to Jerusalem but they never did. I am not convinced that it will happen,” Elkin responded. “Let’s give Trump an example and move our government units to the capital city and then we can ask the Americans to do their part.”
