The world continues to closely follow Shimon Peres’ health situation, which is still very serious but stable after he suffered a stroke yesterday evening (Tuesday). Former US president Bill Clinton called Peres’ office in order to inquire about the situation and wish him a speedy recovery. In addition, both a White House representative and an aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin called Israel’s 9th President’s office in order to find out how he is doing.

US Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro stated: “We sent our prayers to the former president and hope for his speedy recovery.” Javier Solana, the former EU foreign policy chief, sent “hugs from here” to Israel’s 9th President.

Israel’s President Reuven Rivlin said that he sends “heartfelt prayers of recovery to my friend Shimon Peres, Israel’s 9th President.” Rivlin also said that he is following the reports from the hospital regarding Peres’ medical situation. “I spoke with his daughter and I’m praying for his full recovery along with all of the nation,” Rivlin added. “Someone like Shimon knows how to fight and if it depends on him, he will win.”
