Poland marks 74th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising

On Thursday, Israeli Ambassador to Poland Anna Azari presented Yad Vashem’s Righteous Among the Nations of the World medals in Poland. Among the recipients were Witold Topolewski and Salomea Jelinowska, whose parents risked their lives to save Jewish people during the Holocaust.
JOL reported yesterday that hundreds of people gathered in order to mark the 74th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in front of the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes in Warsaw. Members of the Polish Jewish community and Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo were among those who attended the ceremony honoring and remembering the Jews who courageously revolted on April 19, 1943, during the Second World War.

Next week, Israel will mark Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day). On this day, various ceremonies throughout Israel will be held to remember the approximately six million Jewish people who were murdered during the Holocaust.
