Barry Sherman, the founder of Canadian pharmaceutical giant Apotex, and his wife, Honey, were found dead in their Toronto home on Friday.

A Toronto Police official said the circumstances of the couple's death "appear suspicious and we are treating it that way."

Toronto Mayor John Tory said in a statement that he is "shocked and heartbroken" by the news. "Toronto Police are investigating, and I hope that investigation will be able to provide answers for all of us who are mourning this tremendous loss," he added.

Mr. Sherman's net worth is estimated at $3.2 billion, making him the seventh richest individual in Canada. Apotex, which he founded in 1974, is now the largest drug company in Canada.
