After U.S. President Donald Trump denounced the wave of bomb threats against Jewish community centers across America several times in recent days, the Jewish communities and FBI are seriously looking into who is responsible for these disturbing phone calls. According to reports, more than 100 fake bomb threats have been made against Jewish centers and it appears that many of the calls originated overseas.

The FBI claims that all of the phone calls were recorded. In addition, the FBI agents believe that in some of the cases, the callers had not been informed about the targeted locations. Some of the Jewish community centers trained their receptionists to handle this type of phone call. Some receptionists attempted to keep the caller on the line for as long as possible by asking him or her questions.

At the Merage Jewish Community Center of Orange County, California, employees said that the caller was male and had a “very robotic” voice. During the phone conversation, he said: “You're asking too many questions.” The receptionist apologized but continued to ask questions about the bomb’s location.

Brian Greene, Los Angeles’ Westside Jewish Community Center executive director, said that the caller sounded “mechanical.” He also said that the caller could have been a woman. Greene added that the caller said that they had an hour to get out of the building.

At Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School in Rockville, Maryland, Laurie Ehrlich, the school’s director of marketing and communications, stated that the caller said that Jewish souls would be destroyed. The front-desk receptionist who answered the call was able to get a callback number, which was given to the local police department.
