Dozens of gravestones at a Jewish cemetery in Springfield, Pennsylvania, have been vandalized, according to local media outlets. The damage was discovered on Saturday morning when a Jewish woman arrived at the Mt. Sharon Cemetery with her mother in order to visit her father’s gravesite. Police in Delaware County have launched an investigation into the incident.
According to Mora Ezra, the woman who discovered the damage, no less than 30 gravestones were vandalized. According to the local police department, it is still unclear exactly when the vandalism took place and there are no suspects at the moment.
This incident comes almost a month after dozens of gravestones were damaged and knocked over at the Mount Carmel Cemetery in Philadelphia. A week before the Mount Carmel incident, gravestones at a Jewish cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri, were vandalized. In addition, two cemeteries in two different New York cities were damaged recently.
