Tourism Ministry approves plan for Jordan River promenade

The plan will include the construction of parking lots, picnic sites, playgrounds and bicycle lanes.

The Upper Galilee Regional Council has announced its plan to build a promenade along the Jordan River, which will include parking lots, picnic sites, playgrounds and bicycle lanes.

The plan will be launched as early as this year and is expected to cost about NIS 30 million. It will be a joint project of the Ministry of Tourism, the Jewish National Fund (KKL) and the Drainage Authority.

"This plan is environment-friendly," said Giora Salz, the head of the Upper Galilee Regional Council. "The Hula Valley streams are attract over two million tourists and travelers a year."
