Last month, Emma Wren Gibson was born in Tennessee after 25 years of being frozen as an embryo. According to researchers, this is the longest freezing time ever recorded to result in a successful birth.

Emma’s mother, Tina Gibson, is 26 years old and was born only a year before her daughter was frozen in 1992. “Do you realize that I’m 25 years old?” Tina told WBIR news. “If the baby was born when it was supposed to born, we could have been best friends.”

“The NEDC (National Embryo Donation Center) has been privileged to work with the Gibsons to help them realize their dreams of becoming parents,” stated Doctor Jeffrey Keenan. “We hope this story is a clarion call to all couples who have embryos in long-term storage to consider this life-affirming option for their embryos.”
