The winter season in Israel can be not-so-wintery sometimes. Still, there are attractions for everybody, even skiers. Here is a list of the best places to go to.

Unlike in North America or parts of Europe, the weather in Israel during the winter is not very consistent, and while there is the occasional rain storm or even snow in certain areas, it can also get anywhere from cold-but-sunny to pleasantly-warm.

So whether you’re a cold-weather person or you want to get as much sun as possible, this list is for you. Here are five places to go to during the winter months in the Holy Land.

#1 Mount Hermon

As can be seen in the video above, the ski resort at Mount Hermon is a widely-popular activity for Israelis and tourists alike. The entire family can enjoy it, provided, of course, that enough snow had piled up.

#2 Jerusalem Ice Festival

Debuted in 2012, the Jerusalem Ice Festival has become an annual celebration of winter, with an entire city of ice carefully crafted for visitors’ enjoyment. This year’s festival is scheduled to be held between February and April 2017.

#3 Hiking

That’s right, Israeli winter is ideal for taking hikes in nature. When it’s not raining, it isn’t too hot and the landscape is lovely. The Judean Desert is one of many great locations.

#4 Dead Sea

While a recommended attraction all year round, the Dead Sea remains warm due to its unique ecosystem, which makes it a great place to visit in the winter, when the country’s other beaches are out of the question.

#5 Eilat

If you’re just looking to get away from it all, the southernmost city of Eilat is perfect for you. There, you can bask in the ever-lasting sun and even swim in the Red Sea. There’s also the underwater observatory and the dolphin reef for lovers of sea creatures.
