Israel Police officers arrested eight central Israel residents Monday morning on suspicion of kidnapping an Arab man and holding him for ransom. The suspects will be brought in front of a judge later today for a remand hearing.
Early Monday morning, the Israel Police received a call from a resident of East Jerusalem’s At-Tur neighborhood. The man told the police that his son was kidnapped by several suspects, who then called him and demanded a large amount of cash in exchange for his son’s release.
Within a few hours, the officers located the suspects and arrested them. A few hours later, the Arab man was located and returned to his home.
The initial investigation revealed that the suspects had an ongoing financial dispute with the man they kidnapped. It appears that the suspects arrived at the man’s home in the middle of the night wearing masks, kidnapped him and drove him to central Israel. They then called the man’s father, demanding the money.
