According to reports, Al-Qaeda’s deputy leader was killed in a US drone strike.
According to reports in Syria, last night (Sunday), Al-Qaeda’s deputy leader Abu Khayr al-Masri was killed in a drone strike in the city of Idlib, Syria. The reports claim that the US was behind the attack although there is no official confirmation.
Last Sunday, news outlets around the world reported that ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was injured or killed in an Iraqi Air Force attack. On Monday, however, the Iraqi military stated that al-Baghdadi’s fate is still unknown.
Meanwhile, attacks against ISIS continue and US forces eliminate close to 50 ISIS members every week. In the Syrian city al-Bab, the Turkish military is cooperating with its local militias and Assad’s forces against ISIS. ISIS is also fighting on another front in Mosul, Iraq.
