After the results of the US election were announced, many American Muslims started tweeting about their fear now that Donald Trump has become the new president-elect. “My mom literally just texted me, ‘don’t wear the hijab please,’ and she’s the most religious person in our family,” one American Muslim woman wrote.

Many American Muslim women have been tweeting in the past 24 hours about their fears now that Donald Trump has become the new president-elect, according to the website Buzzfeed. “My 8-year-old sister just told me she’s scared to be Muslim,” one Muslim woman tweeted. “That broke my heart.”
“My mom literally just texted me, ‘don’t wear the hijab please,’ and she’s the most religious person in our family,” another tweet read. A third Muslim woman wrote: “My husband just yelled at me for wearing hijab. He got scared suddenly and is pleading w/ me to not wear hijab in fear that I’ll be hurt.”
However, many American Muslim women said that they will continue to wear the hijab despite their fears. “I’m not scared of Trump and neither will I ever STOP wearing the hijab,” a woman wrote.
Another woman wrote: “I may be scared for my safety but I will not let myself fear him.”
As reported yesterday by JOL, Trump is considering many senior level Republican officials to serve in his administration including former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.
