The Israeli rabbi who was murdered yesterday by a terrorist will be laid to rest on Tuesday in the West Bank settlement of Har Bracha, where he lived with his wife and their four young children. 29-year-old Itamar Ben-Gal was fatally stabbed as he waited at a popular hitchhiking spot at the West Bank’s Ariel Junction. The terrorist, 19-year-old Abed al-Karim Adel Asi, fled the scene and is still at large.

Personal details about the terrorist began to emerge a few hours after the terror attack. As reported previously be JerusalemOnline, al-Karim is an Israeli Arab who divided his time between his mother’s house in Israel and his father’s house in the Palestinian Authority’s West Bank area.

“This is a young man who is known to social services, homeless and addicted to drugs,” the Israeli Welfare Ministry said in a statement. “Throughout the years, attempts were made to help the young man who was abandoned by his parents and he received several housing solutions and rehabilitation from the state but he chose to stop the process each time.”
