Just a day after the coalition agreement with Yisrael Beiteinu was signed, Ha-Bayit Ha-Yehudi continues to attack Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and demand that he change the way the Security Cabinet is managed. “As ministers of the country, we must address our role with awe, trepidation, serious professionalism, broad knowledge and absolute values,” said Education Minister and Ha-Bayit Ha-Yehudi chairman Naftali Bennett today (Thursday).

“No minister needs to raise his hand for a decision that means sending our children to Gaza or Lebanon, while knowing that some of them won’t return, without the knowledge and understanding regarding what he is voting about, without having the [clear] picture and knowledge, without having the ability to ask the right questions,” Bennett said at a conference in Tel Aviv today. “I saw it with my own eyes as a commander during the Second Lebanon War and as a member of the Security Cabinet during Operation Protective Edge. This must not happen again.”

One of the demands of Bennett’s political party is that a military secretary be appointed to every minister who is a member of the Security Cabinet. This secretary will provide the minister with knowledge about security matters. Earlier this week, Bennett announced that if his party’s demands are not met, the Ha-Bayit Ha-Yehudi MKs will not support MK Avigdor Lieberman’s appointment as Defense Minister.

“Ha-Bayit Ha-Yehudi hasn’t demanded jobs or budgets,” the political party said in a statement. “Our demands are to save lives.”
