Iraqi forces have uncovered a number of mass graves near the town of Hawijah containing the bodies of at least 400 ISIS execution victims.
According to reports, ISIS had turned an old Iraqi military training base into an execution site. An al-Jazeera reporter said the discovery is “significant to the families of the victims, who have been seeking closure for years.”
Earlier this month, the news agency IP conducted an examination that found that ISIS had buried thousands of victims in 72 mass graves around Iraq and Syria.
