Hungarian police alerted Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs that Ofir Gross’ body had been found in the forest. Ofir went missing about a week and a half ago while travelling in the country. Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that a clear identification has not yet been made, until which there is serious concern for Ofir’s life and his whereabouts.

Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is awaiting certain identification of Ofir’s body, as his family flew to Hungary to do so. The last time 40-year-old Ofir Gross contacted his family he told them that he was going to stay with a Hungarian local.

“My parents last spoke with Ofir last Thursday,” his sister, Gali, told Channel 2 News Online last week, before receiving the horrible news.

“He stayed in a city with a girl from Couchsurfing. She was supposed to go to Budapest for work, so he was looking for another place to sleep,” she said. Gali added that Ofir contacted a local resident, who offered him a couch to sleep on, but she doesn’t know if Ofir ever reached the house.
