The Security Cabinet is expected to convene on Sunday to discuss ways to promote the returning of missing IDF soldiers Oron Shaul and Hadar Goldin. This comes amid an ongoing crisis of trust between the soldiers’ families and the Israeli government over its decision not to include the issue in the negotiations for the reconciliation deal with Turkey.

The soldiers’ families were recently told by government officials about certain progress that has been made with regard to the efforts to bring back their sons’ bodies, which have been held by Hamas since Operation Protective Edge in 2014.

Among the proposals expected to be brought up in Sunday’s meeting are the toughening of prison conditions for Hamas terrorists, a reimprisonment of some of the terrorists released in the deal to free Gilad Shalit and a reexamination of government decisions to return terrorists’ bodies to the Palestinian Authority.
