Violent riots erupted in Bayt Rima as IDF forces operated in the Palestinian village in order to arrest wanted residents. The Shin Bet stated that about 30 Palestinians hurled stones at soldiers from the elite Duvdevan unit, who used riot control measures to disperse the mob. According to Palestinian media outlets, six residents were injured. The IDF stated that it is investigating the report.
About a month ago, a wanted Palestinian was eliminated by officers from the Israel Police’s elite Yamam counter-terrorism unit. While Israeli security forces were attempting to arrest him, the wanted Palestinian drew a firearm and started shooting at the forces, which responded by returning fire. The wanted Palestinian was suspected of being involved in two shooting attacks against IDF soldiers. The suspect’s identity was released after the incident: 34-year-old Amer Ahmed Khalil of Nabi Saleh.
