During an interview this morning (Sunday), Shaked clarified that Ha-Bayit Ha-Yehudi leader Naftali Bennett will not back down from his demand to appoint a military secretary to the Security Cabinet. Shaked also added that Ha-Bayit Ha-Yehudi will not hesitate to take the necessary measures. “We will vote against [Avigdor] Lieberman’s appointment as defense minister even if it will lead to new elections,” said Shaked. “We do not think that it should come to this but it is a possibility.”
Shaked claimed that Security Cabinet members were not informed about the Hamas terror tunnels in time during Operation Protective Edge. She claimed that Bennett was the one who brought the topic up during Security Cabinet discussions. “If we, the members of the security cabinet, are the ones responsible during wartime, then we need to receive all of the relevant information and the complete picture.”
Shaked argued that this demand did not appear out of nowhere: “Bennett turned to the Prime Minister many times. He always said he would take care of it but it never happened. Therefore, we were forced to demand it as a precondition. We will vote against the new layout of the government if our demand is not met.”
