On Sunday evening, it was revealed that WhatsApp conversations between the judge and an Israel Securities Authority investigator assigned to Case 4000 took place regarding the remand periods for the suspects in the case.

Israel Securities Authority investigator Eran Shacham-Shavit wrote to Judge Ronit Poznansky-Katz that the authorities intend to release some of the suspects involved while keeping others in custody for a few more days.

Shacham-Shavit told Pozansky-Katz to “look surprised” when he recommends the remand extension at the upcoming hearing. Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked and Supreme Court Chief Justice Esther Hayut filed a complaint against the judge.

Pozansky-Katz asked to remove herself from the case as the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court ordered her to step aside. Judge Alaa Masarwa will be taking over the case. Shacham-Shavit has also been removed from the case.

A state representative stated after the conversations were leaked that despite the apparent collusion, the arrests of the suspects are legal.
