Today (Saturday), Commander of the Israel Border Police Yaakov Shabtai stated that “females have an advantage over males in a certain unit- sitting in front of screens for field observations, they have more strength for it.”

“In 1994, the idea of a female combat unit arose,” he said. “Since then, we have been integrating females in all missions and all sectors. You won’t find any units without females.”

When asked about the anti-female integration campaigns, Shabtai stated: “There are sensitivities. When you send officers for 42 hours, you won’t put a female and a male in the same post because there are some needs that cannot be done together. There are sensitivities regarding sleeping arrangements but we learned to make the separation.”
