Actress Debbie Reynolds, the mother of Carrie Fisher who died two days ago, passed away the day after her daughter’s death at the age of 84. Reynolds starred in the 1952 Hollywood classic Singin’ in the Rain and received an Oscar nomination in 1964 for her role in The Unsinkable Molly Brown.

Actress Debbie Reynolds, who starred in the 1952 Hollywood classic Singin’ in the Rain and who also happens to be the mother of Carrie Fisher who died two days ago, passed away the day after her daughter at the age of 84. Reynolds suffered a stroke in her Beverly Hills home while preparing for her daughter’s funeral.

The American actress performed in a series of MGM musicals in the 1950s after the giant film studio discovered her during a beauty pageant. In 1964, Reynolds received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role for The Unsinkable Molly Brown.
