Denmark will cut funding from Palestinian NGOs promoting boycotts on Israel, the Danish Foreign Ministry announced on Friday. It will also toughen the criteria for financial aid for other NGOs.
The announcement was a result of pressure from Israeli government officials, including Strategic Affairs Minister Gilad Erdan, who had notified the Danish Foreign Ministry about aid money that had reached organizations with ties to terror groups.
Danish Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen said many Palestinian NGOs currently receiving money from Denmark will no longer receive it.
Denmark is a member of the Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law Secretariat, a donor program based in Ramallah.
Erdan called the Danish decision “a significant achievement to Israel in its fierce battle against pro-boycott groups.”
