The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have attacked several positions of the Islamic terrorist group Hamas in the Gaza Strip this morning, according to a report on the Israeli state radio Kan.
This occurred in response to the firing of five rockets last night directed at the Eshkol Regional Council. Palestinian sources reported that the IDF attacked four positions, two of them in Dir el Balah and two east of Gaza City.
On Saturday, there were massive demonstrations to mark the first anniversary so called ‘Great March of Return’ on the Israel-Gaza border fence. The demonstrations were attended by 41,000 people. Two Palestinians were killed in the clashes, according to the Hamas-controlled Gaza Ministry of Health. There were also 360 Palestinian casualties reported in the incidents. Hamas pledged to contain the demonstrations and prevent violence. In response, Israel has decided to lift restrictions on the Strip it imposed following rocket from Gaza against the the Mishmeret village in north of Tel Aviv last Monday, that left 7 injured including 2 children.
