The Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality has planned a series of events for Jewish and Christian residents and tourists as Hanukkah and Christmas coincide this year. As reported earlier by JOL, Tel Aviv’s Neve Sha’anan neighborhood will be holding the Night Light Festival on Thursday and Saturday evening (December 22nd and 24th). In addition to the stunning light show, the multicultural abundance and complexity of the neighborhood will be celebrated with dozens of music performances, food samples, tours, parties and engaged art in public and private venues.
Additional events open for the public include:
Light-pipes at the Tel Aviv Port – Menorah Art Installation: Visitors who pass by the area will think that they are looking at Christmas lights. However, when they draw closer, they will suddenly see dozens of clear pipes covered with shining lights with thousands of rolling balls, all creating together a vast Hanukkah menorah. Visitors will be able to see this stunning sight during the Hanukkah nights.
Lights Market Festival: Givo’n Square will wear the holiday spirit as its trees become Christmas trees. The Tel Aviv Municipality will be hosting Nazareth’s Christmas Market, music, street performances, food stalls and more on December 27th-29th, 11:00 AM-11:00 PM at Givo’n Square (between Ha’arba’a street and Ha’chashmonaim Street).
Christmas Tree Lighting: See a magnificent 15 meter-high Christmas tree at the Jaffa Clock Tower until January 20.
Lighting of Hanukkah Candles: Every evening from December 24th to 31st, wonderful candle lighting ceremonies will take place Rabin Square, Sarona Market, Hatachana Complex and Habima Square.
Viennese Christmas Ball: Enjoy the masterpieces of Mozart, Haydn, Strauss, Offenbach on December 30th at St. Nicholas Armenian Church, Jaffa.
Winter Opera at the Jaffa Flea Market: Israeli Opera singers will be performing on Fridays started at 11:00 AM.
