A drone infiltrated the airspace of Ben Gurion Airport late Tuesday night, causing a 15-minute shutdown, the Israel Airports Authority has said.
After spotting the drone, police and airport security officials began to investigate the incident and look into the identity of the drone’s owner.
The Israel Airports Authority said the existence of drones in the airport’s airspace is “highly dangerous” and illegal.
Last month, Israel’s State Comptroller Yosef Shapira published a report warning about the danger of drones being used by terrorist groups – a scenario he said the IDF was unprepared for.
