The Histadrut is threatening to shut down all Egged bus lines in Israel starting March 21. According to Histadrut Chairman Avi Nissenkorn, the two ministries that are supposed to be negotiating with the company are intentionally delaying the talks.

Histadrut Chairman Avi Nissenkorn announced today (Monday) that starting March 21, all Egged bus lines throughout the country will be shut down because the Israeli Transportation Ministry and Israeli Finance Ministry keep delaying the negotiations with the Egged management regarding the subsidy agreement.

According to Nissenkorn, the Transportation Ministry and Finance Ministry’s actions have severely damaged the incentive pay plans for Egged drivers: “We won’t stand on the sidelines as thousands of drivers are unable to meet their monthly financial payments with dignity and the state continues to abandon the public interest and push the transportation industry to an unprecedented low.”
