Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki criticized Israel’s plan to deport African migrants and asylum seekers, claiming that the compensation that the Israeli government is giving each migrant is not enough. The tyrannical leader told local media that the migrants who fled to Israel attempted to topple his government and due to their failure, they have become a burden to the world.

Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki slammed Israel on Wednesday over reports concerning Israel’s plan to deport tens of thousands of African migrants and asylum seekers to underdeveloped countries beginning in April. According to the Washington Post, the tyrannical leader stated that the compensation money that Israel is providing the deportees is not enough.
During a rare interview with a local government-controlled news site, Afwerki said that the migrants deserve more than $3,500 each. According to the oppressive ruler, who has been in power since 1993 and whose party is the only one legal within the country, the Eritrean and Sudanese migrants and asylum seekers set to be deported paid human traffickers a “high price” in order to reach Israel and therefore, they deserve an amount closer to $50,000 each.
Afwerki also claimed that the Eritrean migrants that Israel is deporting were tempted to flee his country in order to organize an armed opposition to his government, but their “subversive schemes” failed and these migrants have now become a burden to the world.
As reported in early January by JOL, Israeli government ministers approved a deal to deport African asylum seekers and migrants. According to the agreement, the government is offering compensation of $3,500 to those who leave Israel for “Third World countries” in Africa, such as Rwanda and Uganda. However, the Rwandan and Ugandan governments are denying making any deal with Israel to take in the asylum seekers. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made clear that the asylum seekers and migrants “will leave anyway.”
