After France and Turkey, the European Union has also warned the US against the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and the transfer of the embassy from Tel Aviv.

After French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his concern about the possibility that Washington will recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, today (Tuesday), the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini joined the objections.

According to Mogherini, anything that could undermine the negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians “must absolutely be avoided.” “A way must be found through negotiations to resolve the status of Jerusalem as the future capital of both states,” the EU diplomat added.

Mogherini’s statements come only hours after the White House stated the US President Donald Trump has decided to postpone his decision on the matter. Meanwhile, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan warned that his country may sever its diplomatic ties with Israel.
