U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he will hold a press conference in the White House Rose Garden on Thursday. During the press conference, Trump will announce his decision on the international climate change deal, which was signed in Paris in 2015 by about 200 heads of state. Yesterday, the Axios news website reported that Trump has decided to pull out of the agreement, citing two sources familiar with the matter.
Trump ended the tweet announcing his upcoming press conference with his popular campaign slogan: “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” During the presidential race, Trump said that he plans to withdraw from the agreement, claiming that it harms America’s economy.
Trump’s aides are divided when it comes to the agreement. While U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson supports remaining in the deal, Trump’s chief strategist Stephen K. Bannon is in favor of leaving the agreement. If Trump decides to pull out of the agreement, America will join Syria and Nicaragua, the only two countries that have declared that they do not support it.
I will be announcing my decision on Paris Accord, Thursday at 3:00 P.M. The White House Rose Garden. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
