The car-ramming attack in the heart of the Spanish tourist city and afterwards, in distant Siberia officially determined Europe’s new reality: Nowhere on the continent is safe from terrorism. Since the beginning of 2015, Europe has been experiencing more and more deadly terror attacks, all of which were carried out or inspired by ISIS.

Over the past two-and-a-half years, a series of terror attacks have occurred throughout Europe claiming the lives of many victims. Utilizing various cruel methods, all too familiar to Israelis due to the complex situation within the country, terror attacks have taken a completely different form: car-ramming, stabbing and shooting attacks by terrorists who are highly motivated to harm as many people as possible – all of which are carried out or inspired by ISIS. At first, the terror attacks were localized to France however afterwards, they quickly spread to other targets throughout Europe until they reached Spain and even Siberia this weekend.
Europe may have known terror attacks in the past, but the current harshest terror wave began in 2015 with the Charlie Hebdo terror attack in Paris, in which 12 people were murdered during a carefully planned attack executed by radical Islamic terrorists. The terror attack was carried out against members of the French satirical magazine after it published caricatures of the prophet Mohammad and ISIS.

Two days later, another deadly terror attack occurred within France: a terrorist infiltrated into the Hypercacher Jewish supermarket shooting four customers to death, all of whom were French Jews. During the attack, the terrorist also held several people hostage within the supermarket.

However, the most horrific terror attack of them all occurred 10 months later in what is known as the November 2015 Paris attacks. The series of shooting attacks and suicide bombings of ISIS terrorists were carried out at the Stade de France national sports stadium, a number of restaurants nearby and at the Bataclan theatre, where people were massacred while attending an American rock concert. 130 people were murdered during the largest terror attack to ever occur in France.
