In an unprecedented move, the main event for the Gay Pride Parade will be held in Jerusalem, Channel 2 News has learned. The Open House for Pride and Tolerance which is located in Jerusalem stands behind the initiative.
According to the initiators, the move is expected to bring about a great parade in order to stress the need to protest for gay rights. They claim that this is due to repeated statements by rabbis against the LGBT community.
In the framework of the move, the main Gay Pride Parade will be held in Jerusalem and another Gay Pride Parade will be held the day afterwards in Tel Aviv. The title of the event will be “Protest in Jerusalem; Celebrate in Tel Aviv.” The initiative was not coordinated with Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat.
