A child from Gaza who was filmed last week, along with other children, praising an Iranian commander, says he was paid heavily to appear in the video. This is a clear sign of Iran’s growing involvement in Gaza.
Watch: Children in Gaza praise Qasem Soleimani
Last week, a video published on social media showed a group of Gazan children holding pictures of Qasem Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, and praising him. Now, one of the children seen in the video admits they were paid handsomely for it.
This is yet another indication of the fact that Iran has become increasingly involved in Gaza in recent years. As part of an attempt to make the Gaza Strip more Shiite, Iranian-funded schools and welfare funds are becoming more and more common there.
This is happening as a result of the warming relations between Iran and Hamas after a long rift over the war in Syria. Hamas Gaza Strip leader Yahya Sinwar recently admitted that Iran is the largest contributor to Hamas’ military wing.
