According to new data from an Israeli cyber security company 2BSecure, only 36 people payed the ransom that was demanded in the massive cyber-attack. In Israel, the attack was much smaller and most of the victims were companies in the legal service sector.
In India, a port company was shut down after hundreds of its computers were infected with the virus, similarly to several Ukrainian banks and other companies around the world. Many of the world’s cyber experts are trying to locate the source of the attack, which has similarities to the WannaCry virus that attacked companies and organizations in more than 150 countries in May.

Israeli cyber experts explained that thanks to the widespread awareness and preparations in Israel, only a few companies were affected by the virus. However, officials from the Eset IT security firm warned that the world will continue to witness more and more ransomware cyber-attacks and recommended that companies review their protocols, update their operating systems and remind their employees not to open emails from unknown senders.
