Jason Greenblatt, U.S. President Donald Trump’s special representative for international negotiations, prayed at the Western Wall on Monday evening ahead of today’s meetings with Israeli and Palestinian Authority officials. On Twitter, Greenblatt posted pictures from the holy site, saying that he was praying for peace and the families of Israelis who are being held captive by Hamas.

Greenblatt and U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman are expected to meet with Palestinian officials in Jerusalem today in order to discuss renewing peace negotiations. According to reports, the meeting was set to take place in Ramallah but when the Trump administration informed the Palestinians that Friedman would be accompanying Greenblatt, the PA asked for the meeting to be relocated.

Last month, Greenblatt and Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner visited the home of Hadas Malka, the Israel Border Police officer who was murdered in a terror attack in Jerusalem. During the visit, Hadas’ parents told the US envoys about their daughter.
