Over 400 Hamas rockets had been launched toward Southern Israel since yesterday. Seventy percent of the rockets landed in open fields, and the Iron Dome took out a majority of the 30 percent that reached populated areas.
The IDF has responded by hitting 200 strategic targets in Gaza including an underground arms factory, cross border attack tunnel, and a Hamas’s military intelligence headquarters.
The Gaza Ministry of Health has reported that a 14-month-old Palestinian baby, identified as Saba Mahmoud Hamdan Abu Arar and her mother, 37-year-old Falastin Saleh Abu Arar, died as a result of an Israeli air strike.
The explosion that killed the mother and daughter occurred in the Zeitun neighborhood, east of Gaza City.
The IDF spokesman, Avichai Adraee, refuted this claim by saying, the deaths were caused by a failed rocket launch, “there are more and more indications reaching us from the Gaza Strip that put serious doubt on the truth of the statement from Hamas’s health ministry about the death of the baby Saba Mahmoud Hamdan Abu Arar and her mother Falastin Saleh Abu Ara.”
“According to these indications, the death was caused by terrorist activities by Palestinian militants and not by an Israeli strike,” he said
Adraee also noted that most of the rockets were launched in populated areas as a means to use the people as a human shield.
Another IDF spokesman also commented on the report by saying, ”terrorist propaganda is at its best. The mother and child whom they claim in Gaza were killed in an IDF attack were killed by the use of Hamas weapons,”
