Hamas expressed on Monday its support of the Israeli-Arab Joint List party after several of its members disrupted the speech of US Vice President Mike Pence at the Knesset. The terror group accused Pence of racism and denounced his statements about Jerusalem.
“Hamas praises the role of the Palestinian members of the occupying Israeli Knesset in their resistance to the racist speech of Mike Pence against Jerusalem,” the terrorist organization said in a post on its official Twitter account. “Jerusalem is the eternal capital of Palestine.”
As previously reported by JOL, the Arab MKs were immediately removed from the plenum and banned from the Knesset for the remainder of the day after the disruption during which they raised banners reading “Jerusalem is the Capital of Palestine.” MK Jamal Zahalka accused Pence of having “messianic ideas,” and told reporters: “We wanted to injure Pence’s honor, it was deliberate.” On Sunday, Hamas released a statement condemning Pence’s visit and emphasized that the vice president’s arrival “is not welcomed.”
