As the reconciliation efforts between Hamas and Fatah continue, senior Hamas member Ismail Radwan told the Lebanon-based Al-Mayadeen network that Hamas has no intention of leaving its weapons behind because of the talks. “Resistance has proved itself. The talks with Israel did not demonstrate any results,” said Radwan.

Radwan added that another meeting is expected to take place in Cairo next week, where the next steps to be taken towards a reconciliation agreement will be determined.  “Hamas does not intend to abandon the way of resistance,” he said. “This week’s appointment of Saleh al-Arouri as second-in-command is only a part of the organization’s natural democracy.”
